Introduction
The Three-Step Method to Raising Consciousness was created to help global leaders, citizens, & communities thrive in accordance with the ideals of compassion, honesty, and service. It starts with a person-centered approach of identifying important aspects of one’s own ego that have psychological & social consequences. Following this process, the focus becomes on transforming communities through acts of service and raising the collective consciousness through specialized meditation practices aimed at rewiring egoic programming.
Overview of the Three-Step Method
The steps in the Three-Step Method to Raising Consciousness are:
1. Insight: Explore your ego with a series of lessons that culminate in taking the Ego Personality Test, a measure designed to map out the current structure of one’s ego.
2. Action: Surrender specific aspects of your ego through taking conscious action that is in line with loving awareness.
3. Transcend: Based on your personal Ego Personality Test results, create potent individualized meditations to transcend your ego & root your mind in loving awareness.
Taken together, these steps raise one’s baseline level of consciousness and invite in transpersonal experiences of loving awareness & oneness.
The Premises of the Method
The following are the premises of the 3-Step Method, which are based in transpersonal psychology:
Our true nature is that of loving awareness.
Our “soul” or “higher self” has the quality of loving awareness.
Our individuated consciousness (i.e., soul / higher self) exists in and around our body.
Our individuated consciousness is part of the collective consciousness.
Here, ego is defined as: the psychological structures created to protect us from fear in the 3D physical reality.
Because ego is based in fear, it prevents us from living from love.
Surrendering egoic blocks connects us to our true nature of loving awareness.
Connection to our higher selves in this way strengthens our connection to the collective.
When we are connected, all beings & all life everywhere benefit.
The degree to which all beings & all life everywhere benefit is directly related to the degree to which a person is willing to surrender ego.
These are the following benefits to surrendering ego:
1) Personal (e.g., less anxiety, less stress, less concern about self-worth, a great sense of internal freedom, etc.)
2) Societal (e.g., greater prosocial participation in the community, being a benevolent steward of financial resources & the planet, etc.)
3) Spiritual (e.g., greater intuition, feelings of perpetual bliss, and raising the collective consciousness.)
A Closer Look at the Steps in the Method
Let’s take a closer look at each of the steps in the 3-Step Method to Raising Consciousness.
Step 1: Insight
The first step of the Raising Consciousness method is gain insight into your ego through a variety of lessons, followed by taking the Ego Personality Test (EPT). The EPT is a specially crafted measure that provides insight into the various ways your specific ego is constructed. The insights gained from taking the EPT serve as a jumping point for transcending your ego through conscious action & meditation.
What is the Ego Personality Test (EPT)?
The Ego Personality Test (EPT) was created to help us identify egoic blocks to elevated states of consciousness and provide a roadmap rooting the mind in loving awareness.
The EPT is the main - but not the only tool - in the first step of the Three-Step Method to Raising Consciousness that is used to develop insight into the structure of one’s ego.
The basic structure of the EPT is included below. [Note: The image below is NOT the EPT itself.]

More on the EPT:
Note: the Ego Personality Test is not a measure of morality.
The philosophy in which the EPT was developed is that taking a non-judgmental stance towards self-realization is more compassionate, effective, and representative of the truth (i.e., of the non-dual nature of reality).
We all have a mix of egoic and higher consciousness ideals. Our aim is to surrender the egoic ideals we are willing to surrender & live in alignment with higher consciousness ideals to the degree we choose, for the benefit & welfare of all beings and all life everywhere.
Remember that nothing is inherently egoic (e.g., being young, wealthy, famous, etc.etc.). Something is only egoic insofar as an individual person relates to it in an egoic manner (e.g., idealizing thinness is only egoic insofar as a person fears they would be worthless if their body gained weight).
What Happens When Taking the Ego Personality Test (EPT)?
We tend to have emotional & defensive reactions when taking the Ego Personality Test (EPT). Breaking up with your ego is hard to do. And it is worth it. There is nothing more freeing & inherently fulfilling than living a life rooted in loving awareness.
While taking the EPT, feelings of guilt, pride, inferiority, superiority, etc. can arise. It’s all part of the process. None of it is based in reality. All of these emotions are tied to imperfect human judgment.
It is important in this work to cultivate the skill of recognizing judgment & human emotion, acknowledge them, and move into higher consciousness.
How Can I Get a Copy of the Ego Personality Test (EPT)?

[Note: The Conference for Consciousness and Human Evolution (TCCHE) is also in the process of editing a course on Raising Consciousness that includes the EPT. For updates on this course, visit the TCCHE site here: link.]
Step 2: Surrendering Ego through Conscious Action.
Once you have identified your ego blocks, the next step is to take conscious action specifically aimed at surrendering your ego. For instance, if you are living your life in accordance with the egoic ideal of wealth to avoid a fear of not being food enough, you can take the conscious action of donating money anonymously. Taking this type of conscious action helps facilitate the process of psychological surrender of the ego, which brings you into contact with being loving awareness. In Step 2, the initial plans for taking conscious action are made.
What is a Conscious Action Plan (CAP)?
Once gaining insight into the structure of one’s ego (i.e., using methods such as taking the Ego Personality Test [EPT], etc.), the next step is to take targeted action that is pointedly not in line with ego ideals and is in line with higher consciousness ideals.
An example of a conscious action that is: a) pointedly not in line with an ego ideal, and b) is in line with a higher consciousness ideal, is: donating money anonymously to work against the ego ideal of “being a wealthy person, and towards the higher consciousness ideal of being a mindful steward of resources.
A Conscious Action Plan (CAP) is a plan that is created based on the scores of one’s Ego Personality Test (EPT) that provides a roadmap for taking action that is pointedly not in line with one’s ego ideals, and is in line with higher consciousness ideals.
As one progresses along the path of surrendering ego and living life in accordance with higher consciousness ideals, the CAP gets updated over time.

Why Take Conscious Action?
Taking conscious action helps us to surrender our egoic ideals. This has the effect of creating a great sense of internal freedom, and allows us to live a peaceful life rooted in loving awareness.
Because our egoic structures are rooted in fear (e.g., “I fear I would be a worthless person if I were not wealthy”), we often feel intense fears when we start taking conscious action that is pointedly not in line with an egoic ideal. As such, it can be helpful to have both a guide and a spiritual / self-growth focused community to help us take conscious action.
It can also be helpful to develop a Conscious Action Plan (CAP).
Step 3: Meditate to Root the Mind in Loving Awareness
After gaining insight using the Ego Personality Test, the second step of the Raising Consciousness Method is constructing potent meditations that help surrender your specific ego ideals in place for higher consciousness ideals. It is totally up to each individual person
Meditation
To get an idea of the types of meditations practiced in the 3-Step Method to Raising Consciousness, here is an example of a short, generic, ego-transcendence meditation aimed at rooting the mind in loving awareness.
As part of the 3-Step Method to Raising Consciousness, a meditation script of this nature (see below) would be collaboratively edited with Tara Deliberto, PhD, based on your needs as identified by your scores on the Ego Personality Test. The meditation would then be practiced together and a recording provided for your continued use & growth.

The Result
Taken together, through 1) developing insight into your ego, 2) surrendering aspects of your ego through conscious action, and 3) transcending the ego using meditations aimed at rooting the mind in higher awareness, one’s baseline level of consciousness is raised. This ushers in a new way of living day-to-day life unbounded from egoic fears and from a place of loving awareness.
